Have you seen this baby, looks pretty nice! If I didn't have a 620 already, I might go for one of these!

Picked one up just before Christmas (not the engraved one, though)!

It's my first (gun, that is), so I have virtually no frame of reference, but still. . .

I LOVE IT. Nice weight, great for my small hands, shoots sweet. :D

I've already got eyes for it's little sister, though (60 pro)!

Is that a flat/slab sided barrel? Don't care for the profile of the
underlug but that's just me.

I've got a 686P 4" Bbl. with Guy Hogue K/L Compac grips with
finger grooves & checkering in Rosewood. - carry it in a Milt
Sparks 200 AW holster Clears leather no problem

Hmmm, Wonder how this revolver will compare (other than specs...) to the 627PC 8 times gun?
Anyone seen them both or have them both???

Sorry, and I don't get it, the price on the Smith site says $964.00 and the link says $779.00...
Where do I order one?

Really would like opinions about the two...686 Pro vs 627. Real world opinions please.

Confusing.

I take it the 686SSR for 964.00 is MSRP, likely to be a good deal lower "on the street" while the 686SSR in the link is a "club 1852" offering and really costs 779.00 with S&W getting paid directly and the "club members" having to provide a FFL from a transfer dealer...

?

Also, the one in the link requires 50% down but I don't see when it's scheduled to actually ship.

I don't see any other obvious difference apart from the stamp / etching...

The 627 times 8 is 6 oz heavier - "N" vs "L" frame?

For us relative newcomers one of the responses to the "You might be a gun nut" threads has always been: "If you understand S&W model numbers". I can't see this going very far in reversing that observation.

Still, it's interesting. I can feel my lock horror gradually fading ... fading. After all, the hammer / trigger are non-MIM. This gratifies some of us older sorts for reasons I can't quite pin down.

Will the interchangable front sight work with the 629 Classic's front sights? I like the ability to change the pistol's zero without cranking on the rear sight.

Katty, I have the 627x8 & if this new 686 can shoot as well as the 627 it should sell very well.
