Oleg, buddy -- good to see you in rifles again! :)
interesting grip your model's using...
so um... ya get the real thing to play with for a bit, or as Skunky asks... is it Tam's airsoft?

You tell me ;)
Well, the amount of ammo in the mag stays the same through all three photos, and appears to be the same amount as in the fake mag on Tamara's Airsoft P90 (http://www.thehighroad.org/attachment.php?s=&postid=175911). Plus the fact that the model has his finger on the trigger while the camera is well in front of the muzzle. That suggests that either the gun is fake or the camera is on a tripod and being remotely triggered.
I'll bet it's a fake.

I'm betting airsoft for two reasons --
1 -- the cartridge level is about the same in every picture.
2 -- the third picture is made to look "just fired" -- and I'm betting you Photoshopped it 'cause you're not stupid enough to stand downrange of someone firing a real weapon to take a picture.
Do I get a prize? :)

Yes, you are both right and I like your reasoning. Definitely a fake.

Hard to tell since the 6mm bb's are so darn close to the 5.7mm bullets.....
.45 airsofts are easy to spot...never seen a real P90... :(

Don't feel bad; if that thing and a real P90 were more than 3 ft away, you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference. Marui cranks out some pretty faithful copies.
I can't help but think that with proper ballistic tip loads and a 4" longer barrel that the P90 would make a darned good beater gun around a farm or ranch; more than enough juice for varmints or feral critters and a big enough magazine that you could load it on Sunday and shoot all week...

Even if it is just an airsoft... **DROOL** :D
Anyone here had a chance to fire the real thing? Don't the cases eject out the bottom of the grip?

Kewl pitchers.
I guess I am in the minority here by having a fairly low opinion of the P90. I got to do unlimited fiddling with one at the FN booth at the national Sheriff's convention in Nashville a few weeks ago. Didn't, alas, get to fire it. Based on handling, dry firing, and otherwise getting to play with it as much as I wanted...I didn't care for it. The much-ballyhooed ergonomics didn't work for me. The optical sight didn't impress me either. Overall, I prefer an AR carbine. Maybe I'd have a different opinion if I'd had the chance for some live fire.

How is the field of view with that sight? It looks awfully confining to me.
I'd think a big 'ol 30mm red dot would be better for the P90's intended application.

I have the Mauri P90 with the 1913 flattop rail instead, and when your trying to skirmish wearing a paintball mask, even a 30mm red-dot can limit your field of view when the paintball mask intereferes with your cheek weld. I'm keeping an eye out for a cheap 40-50mm red-dot that's suitable for such a "toy".
I obviously can't comment on the 5.7x28 ss190 as a manstopper, :D but I am sold on the ergonomics to launch 6mm balls. In a real P90 the turntable mechanisim might make me worried it was too complicated, but the top-loading mag is excelent for loading while prone, and in my mind "solves" the bullpup mag change under stress "issue" quite nicely.
Note: One mod I have seen to the Mauri p90 is to get the suppressor, (remove the foam and spring, a big ATF no-no, even for a toy, because it's "readibly convertable" put in a sub diameter black ABS tube, and fill the supressor body cavity with epoxy.) and use it as a shroud so you can retrofit with a full-length Mauri AK airsoft barrel.
Personally, I think the real problem with the real p90 is going to be FN overselling it outside the realm of a PDW, and trying to equip SWAT, and Spec-ops groups with it. Perhaps if they up-gunned it to something like hot .30 carbine with spitzer bullets, or necked it down to 5.56mm with short fat cases so it gave .223 performance might help, but then it would have to be something other than a blow-back action. Perhaps a g3 style roller locking bolt would negate the need for a gas system.

I've never shot the real thing but I have held the real thing and let me tell you that airsoft copy is darn close and would fool just about anybody even up close.

If I could have one, a P90 or a Bizon II would be my first choice for a PDW.

One thing that gives it away ( as being an Airsoft ) is the orangish glow coming from the sight..
to quote Remtek:
A low-light reticle, which is illuminated by a replaceable tritium cell, is projected into the optical sight from the rear. It is normally invisible in bright daylight conditions unless the sight is shaded by the brim of a large hat.
Even if there was a glow coming from the front of the optical sight, shouldn't it be red??

'Tain't an orange glow.
It's an orange sunset reflecting off polarized glass. :)
