I've tried 20 year old stuff and plenty of newly manufactored as well, old .357 full house 125 grainers, several old boxes of 125gr. "medium velocity", Golden Sabers in .357 & 9mm, and .41 magnum. Everytime I shoot Remington ammo it has a big blast. People say this about the UMC Remington as well, although I've never tried any. What is the reason for this? I've never noticed it with any other ammo makers like with Remingtons.

I shoot UMC at my local indoor range (it's what they sell). I never noticed more of a flash with that than anything else. All i noticed was that it's a lot cleaner than white box for some reason.

I have also found that Rem (and yes, UMC) have more than normal flash. Their Golden Saber line usually has less flash.
Funny thing is, Rems standard line ammo is very consistant and accurate while several people and agencies (including me) have found the premium Saber to have QC issues in the past (poor accuracy, excessive extreme spreads, etc.).

The only Rem/UMC ammo I've fired is 10mm, and I've noticed that it makes quite a big flash...had several other people on the range wondering just what sort of cannon I was using :evil: . The being said, the flash was much more pronounced than any of my 10mm handloads or any other factory stuff I've used.

I once heard that Remington didn't have a lot of flash suppressor in their powders to maintain consistency from batch to batch. I heard this about 10 years ago. I'm unsure if it's true though. This came up when primers were being compared side by side and Remington primers were found to have the weakest spark.
