Carry gun IWB with light-mounted?

Anyone do this? It stands to reason that if you need it you'll need it at night, and having the light in your pocket won't help. But on a 4" or 5" pistol how much does the light affect bulk, and are there any good IWB holster options?

I notice how bulky an IWB holster has to be to accomodate a pistol with a rail, so obviously a rig that will accomodate a railed pistol with a light mounted will really be bulky. Keep in mind that the holster has to be molded so that the light's pressure switch(es) remain free of pressure; these lights burn HOT, and pressure on the switch could be disastrous. I am not saying I am for or against the concept, just saying it will be bulky.

I guess maybe the TLR2 is just a toy then, what's needed is one of those micro streamlight pen-lights for the left hand.

One of the major problems with rail mounted lights is their width; they're usually much wider than the gun itself (to say nothing of the switch). That would make the holster so wide as to make IWB carry highly uncomfortable, if impossible. It's hard enough to find a OWB paddle that will accommodate mounted lights, I doubt IWB ones will ever become available.

Better to keep a light in a pouch or something and mount it if you need it, but honestly, lights seem to be more for looking for things in the dark, something you don't want to have to do if you CCW. That's for the police, not for us citizens. If you're being attacked while out and about, a light will probably be fairly unnecessary at the ranges that matter. You won't be building clearing with your CCW piece. While I can go for a mounted light on a house gun (and have one on mine), I don't think one on a CCW is practical or terribly useful.

I carry a full size mag light IWB, you should see how the ladies react...

And if you believe that :neener:

I think that adding a light on a rail would be horribly uncomfortable IWB, now I could be wrong, but I think if it were feasible more people would do it. Just my .02
