Winchester 1200 Defender question

Hello, I was wondering if anyone knows whether the Winchester 1200 Defender has an aluminum or steel receiver? I'd like to have one refinished in a brushed or matte hard chrome. It seems like I've read that you can hard chrome aluminum, OLNY if you apply nickel first. Anyone?

Mine has an aluminum receiver.

Winchester hasn't used a steel receiver on a pump shotgun since they discontinued the model 12.
