Hello,

Does anyone know if there are 45-70 govt. snub nose revolvers? I am looking for something with a 2" barrel or shorter.

Thanks

I'm not sure, but the Thunder-5 may have been offered with a 45/70 cylinder.

I guess so. Just get a 454 casull snubby. They have as much punch as a 45/70 depending on ammo used.

Big time. If you thought the Taurus Judge was ungainly looking ...

I hope you find one
as long as I don't have to shoot it.

Is the .454 Casull not enough? ;)

can you say ........... Penile Extention? I mean REALLY......... *** for? a 45/70 is a rifle caliber. A SNUB nosed revolver/pistol is kind of a "I-wanna-be-da-big-guy" thing..... it's certainly not a hunting/SD/HD/SHTF thing.

I'd think most of the powder would be spit out of the barrel unburned and you'd end up with a wimpy .45. But if you really want a short .45-70 American Derringer makes (made?) one of their derringers in that caliber, otherwise you would have to buy a Magnum Research and cut the barrel down.

A waste of good powder out the end of the 2 inch barrel!

My T/C Contender with a 14 in barrel blows its share of powder out the barrel and it lights up the night if you fire it after sundown. Im thinking a 2 inch barrel would put flash burns on your face when you shoot it.

If you find one, make sure it has a lanyard!

you'd be thinking correctly.

If the the 454 isn't punishing enough Smith makes both the 500 and 460 in a snubbie version. I want a 460 but I want at least 8 inches of barrel. I don't mind recoil butIam not foolish.

A member of my club has a 2 shot derringer in .45-70 Bond arms IIRC.

I was offered a chance to fire it but I declined, I did see somone else fire it though, and the fireball and recoil was impressive to say the least. The owner always positions himself 8 feet behind the person shooting so he can catch the derringer should the person firing it lose his grip. He also only puts one round in it for safety reasons.

A revolver wouldnt be any worse, you just have to be carefull not to smack yourself in the head with it when you fire it.

Gee, I guess I must have missed the memo on that.
