Altogether now:

Ooooooooohhhhhhhhhhh . . .

Aaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh . . .

.308 cartridges are not to be sneezed at! You know, that would make a good psyops leaflet.

What distance? What calibers/loads were those *others* that just left dents?

The first time I took my FAL out, I was most struck by the hole the rounds were digging in the ground behind my target. It's the small things that make you go," hmmmmm".

It's been awhile, but IIRC, it was shot at 100yds, and the other small holes (all went through, just not quite as spectacularly) are 5.56 and .223.

Matt, too bad you didn't have any 7.62x25mm to compare it with.

I'll have to remedy that for ya, someday. :D

Nah - this wasn't MY doing (this time), just some pics I found on my hard drive that I got from who know's where. We just did boring old steel plate testing - I can tell you from experience, though, that 163 gr AP loaded in the .308 and shot from a FAL will penetrate about 1" of mild steel :D

Between that, some bricks and blocks, sheetrock, and the handgun "testing" JShirley and I did with the steel door forever ago, I'm having trouble finding much that would qualify as "cover"............

Hmmm - I'm racking my brain....7.62x25 - that's a CZ52, right?

CZ25 i do believe...something i'm considering myself :)

I agree with you on the lack of cover when considering rifle rounds. I also will say, that I wouldn't want to be hit with a rifle bullet, even when wearing body armor with the ceramic/steel plates. :what:

edit: der, that seems to cute. 7.62x25 in a CZ25. Must be the CZ52.

Ayup. CZ52. Super fun pistol.

Don't dry fire it!

[devil's advocate]why not?[/devil's advocate]

not at all, or just do it as little as you can get away with? (cleaning, decocking, etc....don't dry-fire practice)

This is one of the very few centerfire weapons that can be damaged by dryfiring. There are some dedicated sites re the CZ and Maks, and you might want to look there for additional info. Personally, I would try to avoid dropping the hammer on the 52 anytime it's not loaded.

John, firing pin needs replacing
