I recently got my doublestar m4rgery and have ordered a Vari X III for her.

However I am conflicted about mounting the Leupy with rings or a integrated ringmount similar to these:

With rings, it looks like you have to get the right height else the FSB will block your FOV. However, with rings, I can move the scope between my guns. I have a full size A2 and a 10.5" Commando and it would be great to be able to move the scope around.

With a ringmount, I can mount to my flattop.

What do you think?

I decided on this setup so I can switch between the carry handle and the scope...it was $75 and had no name on it but its a solid mount made from aluminum. It appears to be the one that you found for $45...thats what I get for not shopping around I guess. I tried rings first but got a shadow from my front sight when there was very much light (sunny day)...super high rings are not as tall as these AR mounts and actual AR rings are pretty expensive too. Hope this helps...

My vote is for the one piece ringmount. It's very rigid, helps keep your zero, and makes the scope swappable between other rifles. However, I wouldn't necessarily use the "swappable between other rifles" as a total selling point, since your zero is always going to change regardless when you switch between rifles. I currently have 2 1 piece scope mounts both made by Armalite, but now that I own a flattop scope mount from Larue tactical, I definitely would have gone with them for all of my ARs. True they are pretty expensive, but it really is a well made piece and is extremely durable. You can tell alot of thought was put into it before they machined it out. The one downside I will warn about using 1 piece mounts is that with certain scopes it is difficult to achieve perfect eye relief because of the spacing of the rings. When you don't have rings together in one solid piece it does give you a little more to work with in terms of scope placement both on the rifle and in the mounts. Anyways, I don't know what your budget is, but at least check out the Larue mount to see what they have to offer. Also, I wouldn't worry too much about the Front sight getting in the way of a scope. In the picture below I had a Simmons 8.5x-25x scope mounted on a
16" M4gery and the front sight post was pretty much dead center in the scope but you didn't even see it at all when you looked through the scope.
