Weeellllllll....i'm taking my SP-101 to a 'Smith next week to get some modifications done to it. I'm thinking of dropping off it's big brother as well to have this billboard milled off.
Anyone else have that done? Do ya have pics? Does it see/feel like it's taking away from the natural curves/look of the barrel?
I want the billboard gone, but I also don't want the spot where it was to look wierd.

I have no issue with the Ruger Billboard since it does not affect the performance of the weapon. Beauty is truly a relative term as viewed by the eyes of the beholder. There are no "Ugly" handguns in my eyes, all are aesthetically pleasing, but some are more pleasing than others in this respect.
If you do not like the billboard then do what you think needs doing to make it right for you. I have seen several that had the billboard removed with excellent results, in fact I could not see any evidence that there ever was a billboard stamped on the barrel. The only negative would be resale value as the years go by since the gun will have been modified beyond repair short of finding an original barrel and then it would not be the original barrel supplied with that gun NIB. :(

Well...I must agree with GaryP...it really does not affect the gun's function. Personally, I think life is too short to have an ugly weapon...and Gary, that Bill Board is Ugly! Come to think of it...I thoght the round barrel didn't look good on the GP100 either.
Simply sanding it off will make it look like it was never there, and there's no need to pay a gunsmith to do that. On the other hand flattening out the sides looks nice too.
I doubt it really effects the value one way or the other - peronsally, I'm in the market for a GP100 and I'd pay a little extra for one without the idiot alert.
