firearms and was wondering if they make a 40S&W model?
Also how do the Kimber firearms compare to the XD, MP and Glock's as far as shooting accuracy, warranty, and reliability.
I know these mfgs are polymer vs. the steel of the Kimbers so I am looking for the questions to be answered asked above. I know there is a huge difference in price as high as triple the price. Thank you in advance for your input....

Used to, but they have been discontinued. You can find them out there like here:

Kimbers are hit and miss. Seems to be more miss of lately. Earlier versions have been much better than the later models.

In 2008 the models that were made in .40 S&W are being made in 9mm...LOL! A vast improvement in my book. I'm thinking seriously about a 9mm CDPII to go with my Ultra and Pro Aegis IIs!

I've also heard that Kimbers current guns can be great, or a P.O.S.
I have an older, series 1, Pro-Carry, stainless and it has been flawless, and it is more accurate than my Glocks and M&P.

If you can carry 'em safely and you feel comfortable doing so single action pistols are the way to go and I love my Kimbers! Dennis

I really enjoy the handling of my Pro CDPII. Remarkable accuracy (better than my glocks (Models 22 and 19). I carry it with confidence.

I've had an Ultra Raptor II for about four months now, and it has
performed flawlessly through roughly 800 rnds fired. I like it and trust
it enough that it is now my primary carry. For what it's worth...

I believe you may have heard correctly. My shooting buddy has a Kimber and he can't go two mags without it having a FTF or FTE problem. He bought an XD so he has something to shoot while the Kimber goes back and forth to the factory.

Well not what I was expecting as far as the POS reports?? As much as these guns cost, I would think that Kimber would take care of any issues to be found with these guns and it would be done very quickly. Do the Kimber's have a lifetime warrany? Thank you guys for the feedback so far. I am hoping to get more.

Never had any problems with a Kimber. One of my friends has but they fixed it right away for him and for free. I'd call them a good buy and generally you're just as likely to get a bad Springfield or Colt as a bad Kimber. Atleast that's what I get from reading all these forum posts.

After much debating with myself, I have decided that I prefere Kimber to Springfield as far as 1911s go. I have my eye on a Kimber 1911 Target modeL - It's pretty comparable to a Springfield 1911 "Loaded" Target as far as specs. I like Kimbers because of their "feel", look and pretty decent reputation and the fact that they are made here in the States is a big plus for me. Happy hunting!

I have 3 Kimbers and they all have been flawless. I have a basic Custom II, a CDP Pro, and a Tactical Custom. They are all series II guns with the CDP having an external extractor and the other 2 have internal extractors. Like I said they all ran perfectly out of the box. I have a friend that has a compact and it is a jam-o-matic with anything but Kimber mags. He lives with, but it drives me nuts when we go shooting.

I have two Kimbers, the TLE Pro and a Custom Target. Haven't had any problems with either one and they both shoot great. The Custom Target is the most accurate gun I have ever had the pleasure to shoot.

My personal experience with my Kimbers (a TLE II, and a Pro Carry II) has been a very positive one. The TLE II has given me no issues barring one ftf with a bad magazine. The Pro Carry had some teething issues, but has given me no problems in the last 1500 rounds or so.

the feedback. I really appreciate it. Anyone know why Kimber does not make a 40S&W except in there KPD polymer gun? Thanks

For some reason, 1911 designed guns have trouble feeding 40 cal, its not just Kimber, many different manufacturers, guns have problems in 40 cal, i dont know the reason, if anyone does id like to know myself, im not saying you cant get a good 1911 in 40 , just that the odds of a lemmon are higher than other cals in the 1911 frame.

The newest Kimber (SIS for "Special Investigative Services) division of
plain clothes LAPD detectives, is my favorite. Like the Warrior models,
it has the "slick feel'in" Kim-Pro finish on it; and user friendly "wounded
shooter" night sights on it. Wounded shooter meaning that if you are
in a gun fight, and loose the use of one hand; being out of ammo, you
will be able to cock this pistol by placing the rear sight next too some
flat surface and pressing down really quick~! MSRP is $1421; but any
barrel length can be had for 'bout $1199.

Had issues with FTF/FTE. Sent it back, Kimber reworked the feed ramp and installed a longer ejector. No issues at all through about 200 rounds.
