Looking for Italian Rifles

My little hairy buddy from Italy wants a good rifle from the homeland. For his purposes we are looking at .223 or a .30-06. So far he likes the
Benelli R1. His grandfather was an Italian hunter and he would like to find something that would be able to keep the family tradition alive. He is already sold on his Franchi and Benelli shotguns so we are now looking into rifles.

Thanks for all the help.

Beretta used to sell a splendid little lightweight sporter in .223 a few years ago. Shot as well as a target rifle. Seems to me like they were retailing for about 5-600 new in the mid to late 80's. Unfortunately it's discontinued now. You might find one at a big gunshow, though. Well worth owning for my opinion....if you have to buy Italian.

Regards,
Rabbit.

The traditions of italian hunting is shotgun, therefore not too many hunting rifles have been made. There are some smaller makers of rifles, basically custom as I understand. If he's happy with the benelli go with that especially if it's as good as their shotguns.
