I'm in the market for a new revolver and was just curious about the Dan Wessons.
Are they forged are cast?
How are they since CZ took DW over?
Many thanks in advance!

Unfortunately, since CZ took over they only make 2 revolvers. The VH8 and the Alaskan Guide Special. Both are excellent, but 95% of their production has shifted to 1911 style pistols. Sad, since the market is flooded by 1911's and really lacking an ACTUAL premium grade revolver. (I'm fully aware of PC Smiths, but there are a lot of people who think they are over rated for what you get)

I read somwhere that DW, and please remember that this is just rumor, has put their revolver production on hold. As James said, they are premium guns, both the old ones and the new ones.

Grant nailed it in that article.
I drag an old DW Monson 15 357 around with me all the time. It's super.
And, I love most things that have CZ scrawled on them somewhere, from dirt bikes to hand cannons and precision rifles.
But, I can't make myself drop 1000 bucks on an Alaskan guide special in 445 just because it's a DW, given the quality issues and such. And, the weirdo round it shoots.
But, even with those issues, the DW is a neato handgun that doesn't have a peer in the market for its innovative features. The trigger can be cleaned up as can the lockwork. If you've never owned a DW, buy one and experience it.

This Monson DW in .45 Colt has one of the slickest actions i have ever seen on a big revolver, and locks up tighter than a vault.

45 colt DW. Pretty much the pinnacle, in my revolver world.

I have 2 olders ( the 357 Max...AKA Supermag is a Monson, & my custom 44 Mag snubbie is a Palmer )... I'd like a 445 Supermag to go with the 357... but it's atleast a few years down the list...
