Paging 870 Gurus
The Silver Bullet 1719

I went out, and traded a revolver for a NIB Remington 870HD yesterday. I cleaned it up last night, but I do have 1 annoying problem with it. The action button is very stiff. I put some CLP in the trigger group, and it only made it slightly better.
Is there a way to fix it? I can manipulate the slide, but it actually hurts a little bit from holding it in towards the end of the button. I've never seen this in any 870.

Try pulling forward on the forearm a bit as you press the action release button and see if it's easier doing that...

New gun = break-in. Shoot a box or twenty of light field loads through it, see if it doesn't get worlds better.
I wouldn't worry about it too much anyway, the release button is only an issue if the weapon is "cocked", which it isn't after firing.

Run a few hundred rounds through it,work polishing works wonders.

I ran a few boxes of shells through my 870 Express (HD) & then disassembled the whole thing. EVERYWHERE there was any wear I then carefully polished with small-grit diamond hones followed by metal polish (Mothers). Now it cycles like a well-used Wingmaster.
