Indiana Legislators carry guns in the capitol (http://www.myinky.com/ecp/local_news/article/0,1626,ECP_745_2157097,00.html)

One in six Indiana lawmakers has a permit to carry a firearm, and some even pack their guns when they saunter onto the floor of the Indiana House and Senate, The Journal Gazette in Fort Wayne reported Sunday.

These pistol-packing politicians have no problem with the availability of weapons in the Statehouse, and some even welcome the guns given the lax security at the state Capitol.

"If someone opens fire from the balcony, I want all the guns I can shooting back. Unless, of course, there are school kids up there," said Rep. Matthew Whetstone, whose small .22-caliber pistol weighs no more than a set of keys in his pants pocket.

Whetstone, R-Brownsburg, is one of 25 House and Senate members with valid permits to carry firearms, according to a review of the Indiana State Police firearms database by the newspaper.

That is about 17 percent of the General Assembly, compared with about 7 percent of the eligible state population with permits

God, sometimes I absolutely love this state. :D

Can you imagine the outrage on the part of the blissninnies if this was in California? :neener:

Can you imagine the outrage on the part of the blissninnies if this was in California? You don't think the elite in Kali are packing? Sure they are. It's only the normal Joes that are banned from self defense.

glocksman, the elite, wherever one goes, is armed. Oprah, in Chicago or Michigan City, is armed.

The distinction here is that the General Assembly in Indianapolis does not YET see itself as our masters as they do in other states or in D.C.:uhoh:

BTW, only 7% of our state carries (or has a license). This is a great shame; time to work harder!

"said Rep. Matthew Whetstone, whose small .22-caliber pistol weighs no more than a set of keys in his pants pocket. "

That means he's carrying an NAA mini. Hmmmm. I don't think I could vote for a guy who carries anything less than a .32. 9mm would be better...

JUST KIDDING.

OTOH, my Congressman uses a skeet shoot and barbeque at his place as a fund-raiser. Open to public at some reasonable rate I forget. Gotta love it.

Apparently those packing had better stop "sauntering" around or they'll be the first ones targeted!

Somebody needs to send that reporter a thesaurus.

NH is the same. I think the numbers are higher...close to 70%, if New Hampshire Pinko Radio was correct.

Good times. :D

That's my Rep.

I go to church with the guy, Rep. Whetstone that is. Good guy. My district is hyper-conservative. Dems don't even run in my district. And the libertarians show strong. Our reps had better pack, or they wouldn't get elected.

Ahhhhh, the sacred Lair is goooood.
