I wanted to get into reloading for my .243 so i bought a lee loader, 100 80gr speer projectiles, federal primers and 500g of ADI's AR2209. My problem is AR2209 is not listed on the charge table that came with the kit. For a 80gr projectile the powder has to be between 42gr and 45gr so does anyone know how many grains of ADI's AR2209 a 3.1CC lee dipper will hold?

Sounds like you need to find a friend who ownes a powder scale. :)

I found a note that said it's burn-rate is close to IMR 4350, but has a higher bulk density. You'll be hard pressed to find any load-data on it from this country, as I've only found mention of it from a place in New Zealand.

My recommendation is to start with the IMR 4350 data and reduce by 10%.

OOps... I got away from the question. Find a scale. I couldn't find anything on the VMD (unless it's listed on your can), which is the only way to figure volume to weight ratios.

i second what everyone has previously said. Here is what you need to do.

1 get a scale. not an expensive one but one that will tell you where your at and where you need to be.
2. if your going to be using dippers. Get a set its so easy when you have a set. Cost wise is about 12.00 for a set from leeprecision.com.
3. get more load data. stevespages or mdsmith reloading can help. you need to get a lot more load data
4. choose a more popular powder that will fit for what you have.

Uh, how about making a phone call or sending an e-mail to Lee and asking about the capacity. The volume should be printed on the dipper.

Whats up Sniper5, they are trying to find the Volume to weight that a 3.1 cc dipper will hold with that powder. They already know the volume.

I meant if the RP calls Lee and asks how many grains of "powder x" the dipper he has will hold they probably can provide an answer from their data.

Good find Fernie... That looks like a pretty accurate chart. I know I need to add some to a .5cc dipper of Clays to get my 3.8 pet load, so the 3.4 it lists for that is about right.

I use Lee dippers to load with, and a Lee scale. if you need to adjust the amount a dipper will hold (decrease amount) carefully cut out thin material such as the seals (brown paper or thin fibrepaper do well also) on powder jugs and stack in until the dipper throws the correct amount by weight. make sure the 'shims' are placed in tightly and don't fall out.
my Lee powder measure does well with kernel powder but not the fine spherical powder. it seems to 'gum up the works'. dippers are better IMO for spherical powders. kernel powder does'nt dipper as well IMO either.
