Saw some red dot sights with open style (non-tube style) that I really liked. They're pricey though, over $200 for the unit when I can get Tasco or Simmons tube styles are about 1/3 the cost. Are C-More sights worth the cost?

C-mores are excellent. Very high quality, much stronger than the Tascos and Simmonses of the world. You can also acquire the dot much faster than with an enclosed-tube style sight. However, as you said, they come with a price.

If you're putting it on a .22 pistol, it's not worth the outlay. If you're putting it on a battle rifle or a centerfire handgun, it's worth it. You should also check out the OKO sight which is of similar design.

Lets see...
Very poor battery life
adjustment knobs have no clicks to go by, making zeroing very difficult..
Poor mounting options
Easily broken if put under some moderate hard use..
as for better field of view.... That is a common misconception that EOTech users also like to say about seeing the dot easier...

If your using a red dot correctly, one eye is on the reticle (Not the housing that holds the reticle) and the other eye is on the target. So Field of view is the same regardless.

For a fun range toy.. overpriced
For a serious defensive firearm.. not a chance... get an Aimpoint (Used for a little bit more)

This is just my experience...
