Could I port an 1100 barrel and still have the semi-auto functionalty?

This would be a series of drilled holed just back of the screw in choke.

I have had two 1100 barrels ported by FLG. They work fine, but they are 28" and 30" for my trap gun; no holes farther back than 21" from the breech. Same as the length of my slug barrel which works reliably.

Magnaport and several others do the work by EDM. Small shops drill them, Brownell's sells a jig for spacing. My guy used a ball-end milling cutter in a milling machine. More precise and less burr in the bore to polish.
