Anyone read "Unintended Consequences" by John Ross?
Im currently reading it .. and it seems OK. Some parts are a little Radicalish.
I also read Stephen Hunter's books (Black Light , Time to Hunt, Point Of Impact..)
Any recommendations?

Unintended Consequences is pretty good. The first two thirds is a historical-ish fiction with lots of real cases you can look up. The last third is mostly fictional and more akin to an action book.

Enemies Foreign and Domestic, by Matt Bracken. He's a Member here.
Domestic Enemies: The Reconquista, also by Matt.
Freehold, The Weapon, and Better to Beg Forgiveness, by Michael Z. Williamson. He's also a Member here.
Those books have a philosophical perspective similar to that of Unintended Consequences. Can you be more specific about the kind of books you're looking for?

You have started with the absolute best. UC is the pinnacle of gun writing IMO, and a sanitized version of it WILL be required reading for all my children.
I'll also second the recommendations for EFAD, and DETR. I keep meaning to order Monster Hunter myself, just havent got around to it yet. Also check out Molon Labe.

I DO NOT recommend The Complete Encyclopedia of Rifles And Carbines By A.E. Hartink. It was anything but complete, missing some of the most popular ones I know of i.e. SKS, and others I can't think of.
The Complete Encyclopedia Pistols and Revolvers by the same author seems pretty comprehensive though.

Markk,
AWRM is great.
I'm in that book! And yes I have the scar on my hand to prove that I am the same as my character... :)
Edit: I am NOT nearly as high speed or good looking as my character in the book. But hey, that's the beauty of fiction when your good friend is the author!
Then again, I am friends with the author of MHI as well and I don't think I made it into that one... thanks a lot Larry :)

UC is excellent. Molon Labe as well.
I think the next books I get will be Enemies Foreign and Domestic, Boston's Gun Bible, and of course, Monster Hunter Intn'l.

While talking books, I tried to order the Lyman
Shotshell Reloading Handbook 5th Edition 9827111 $25.95
From Amazon, and it only says that Amazon is out of it. So I went directly to Lyman and ordered one. That surprised me.

Theodore Roosevelt's hunting bookssomewhere along the line I acquired a collected set of his writings. my dad read them all, but I never did. maybe I will have to do that. I think there are like 25 volumes.
This guy had one full life, and still had time to write this many full length books.

Anyone read "Unintended Consequences" by John Ross?
I read it and really liked it.Great book.
Belive it or not, my second favorite is ""Cartrides of the World".Its a referance book, not a traditional "reading" type book, but its chocked full of lots of really good and interesting gun and ammo info with every cartridge ever made (or darn near, its 500+ pages), including U.S. and foreign military, blackpowder, and obsolete and wildcat ammo, for rifle, pistol, and shotguns..The sections of obsolete and wildcat ammo is really entertaining.Very good, interesting and invaluable referace book, IMHO.
