My 332 O/U breaks open after a shot. gun has about 150 rounds through it. any ideas?
It is under warranty, but Remington is really not stepping up to help me. Numerous emails and phone calls by my local dealer have been placed to get a return authorization. I've seen all the email. My dealer is really trying for me. Remington has stated in the email that they would be sending a return slip or whatever they call it. That was a month ago. Many more attempts have been made to make something happen. Remington is really dissappointing me.
Have a skeet shoot this weekend. Would love to have my gun. Any ideas why it breaks open?

That can happen if there's dirt in the receiver or the locking mechanism somewhere.
Or if a spring is sprung...
All depends. Sorry I can't tell you much about the 332 specifically. Have you given it a good cleaning?

Remington needs to take it back. Take it to the dealer and insist they make it right.

remington must be reading this board. They offered air service and claimed my gun would go to the front of the line. All this TODAY. I decided to tear it down myself. I fixed it. Took some filing. shouldn't have to do that to a gun of this price level in my opinion, but the problem was obvious and easily fixed with a file.

You repaired a gun (by removing metal no less) from a gun the MFG had already offered to take back and repair? Glad it worked, but brave...

yeah they offered to take it back. After 2.5 months of correspondence. The problem was very simple. it was piss poor fitting of the parts to begin with. This particular part was hand fit. It wasn't good enough. I feel luck that i was able to fix it. I am still very dissapointed with Remington. My dealer worked very hard to ensure my satisfaction. Remington didn't seem to care. When you buy a relatively high end product, you expect high end customer service. i got no service.

BTW, my advice, for what it's worth, is this:
Now that the gun works, SELL IT!
Do not pass go, do not collect $200. Sell it if you can find a buyer.
Go buy a Beretta, SKB, Browning or Ruger with the money. Guerini if you have more to spend.
Rugers may have their detractors, and I don't care for their heft, but they're no heavier than the 332, and if you called Ruger with a problem like that, they'd take care of the problem immediately. I love some of their guns, and I hate one or two, but their customer service is not only the best in the industry, but it's the best I have experienced in any industry (one other company in my experience has been equally good: Meco Corp, maker of Aussie Barbecues, but that's a story for another day).
And IMO none of those guns would have the problem to begin with.
Remington, sadly, seems to be a shadow of its former self, when it comes to building guns.

I'm sad to say the Rem Peerless 332 is a known bad apple among over and unders. Armed Bear is right - sell it and mark the loss up to education.
