Any recommendations on what powder I should use for a 185g plated 45acp bullet? I would like to try some mild and some full power. I use Power Pistol with 230g plated bullet with very good accuracy and some kick. The ammo will be used for informal target and plinking. Thanks.

i use accurate #7, there isn't a lot of load info out there for it for some reason, maybe because it isn't made by hodgdon, but it works fine for me.

For your mild loads try WST, Competition, AA #2, N310, or N320. All of these can give excellent results with 185 Gr plated bullets.

AA #5 & WSF work well for hotter loads. I have not tried Power Pistol with plated bullets, but many here like it a lot.

Titegroup and clays make a good load too.

I use both Clays and Red Dot for all my .45 loads. (185's, 200's, and 230's) I have had great results.

Yeay Titegroup! Faster burn for lighter stuff! :D I use about 5 grains (this to be taken with a GRAIN of sand, hahahaha) for about 850 fps run on it.

Thanks for the good info. I tried a few different powders and weights. Clay's was the most accurate. 231 was pretty good, but not as accurate as Clay's. #7 had the most recoil and accuracy was still there but again not as accurate as Clay's. I do have to say #7 was the cleanest 45acp powder I have used. Will try TiteGroup next.
