Uh oh. I forgot to ask you guys an important question.

Seeing how I am about as green as one can be when it comes to Glocks, I guess I should have asked this question earlier. - Has Glock proven itself in the .45 format? I know it has certainly proven itself beyond a shadow of a doubt with the 9mm. But what about in .45 caliber? Have they just begun making .45's? In other words, is the G36 that I'm getting a first time entry into the .45 market for Glock? :uhoh:

The Glock model 21 in .45ACP was adopted by the (Calif.) San Bernadino County Sheriff's Dept back in 1998.

Glock made it's rep with 9mm. I've seen problems with the .45's, sure, but with so many units out there, I can say the same for most.
Would I hesitate to carry a Glock .45? Nope, in fact, a buddy just bought one that I tried my best to relieve him of, to no avail.
I do have to ask - are you the same Loaded that is on the ADVrider.com site?

Glock has not been making any gun very long. curtian rods yes. Guns No.
Consider a 1911 if you want a bottomfeeder with a long history.
Colt is once agin making some truly spectacular guns.

The only major complaint I have heard about the .45 Glocks is about their magazines. Something about them having bad springs and followers. This was many years ago, and I am sure Glock has fixed it somehow.

Actually, I do seem to recall that early Glock 21's weren't all they were supposed to be in the reliability department . . . something about the extractor. But that was supposedly worked out.
I also encountered a local IDPA shooter who had a KB in his Glock compact. (Don't recall whether it was a G36 or the compact double stack.)
Glocks seem to work best in 9mm.

I looked at a G36, but the grip was too darn fat for my hand. I don't have small hands either.

The Glock 21 (.45 ACP) is notoriously accurate. The best explaination I have heard for why it is more accurate (in general) than the .40 or the 9mm platform is that the 21 has an octagonal barrel while the others have hexagonal barrels.

I remember, several years ago....maybe 10?...when our local
Sheriff's department was first issued Glock 45's, one of the
rookie's firearms trainers shot himself through the leg with one
while he was reholstering. I guess that little hickey on the
trigger was protruding to the starboard side a little and snagged on
the edge of his rig...Right?
Last I heard, he recovered and is now on patrol...armed.
Anyway, it led the county commisioners to reject the Glock for a
safer design...Or was it a more idiot-proof design?
Could have been worse, I guess. There was also a guy who showed up at a turkey shoot with a 1911 shoved into the front of his pants...drunk...
(The guy...not the pistol) When he bragged that he could make the
little red star disappear with his pistol....pulled it and fired three rounds...
"reholstered" with finger on the trigger, and...well, you can guess the rest.
(In case you can't...He has to squat to take a whizz.)
These people should stay home nights.
Cheers!
