For a long time, I have been trying to figure out who made an old replica revolver I have. More recently, I found that another one had an unknown maker, and I needed parts for both, or they would be destined for the wall.

I've gone to a gunsmith, talked with people at Dixie (who sold me one of them over 25 years ago) and nobody could help me. They appeared to be totally unmarked except for European proof marks, "Black Powder Only. Made in Italy" and the defunct importer's name on one of them.

But here on THR, oldelm posted not only the obscure bit of knowledge I needed but could never find, but also a photograph worth a thousand words.

Sure enough, both revolvers are old Armi San Paolo replicas, and have the cartouche he posted. The one I built from a kit had been draw-filed and polished, so only a tiny corner of it remained, but it was enough that I could compare it with the photo and the other revolver, which was factory-finished and had a more distinct stamping.

ArmedBear,...thanks for the tip-0-the hat, and am happy to hear that your old Rogers & Spencer and the Remington are both Armi San Paolos. ASPs are fine revolvers. They'll be glad to be seeing the light of day again and out making smoke,.. puttin a big grin on your face for sure. :D :D

Excellent results, very pleased to hear you had a good ending. Yes, Euroarms (ASP) are very nice guns.
