I was talking about guns and when they were made with some fellows at the range today and realised my .45 auto had turned 90 this year! It's an old 1911 mfgd in 1918, sn 3859XX by Colt and accurized by the AMU I believe back in the 50's. I have owned the gun since the early 70's when I paid the princely sum of $125. The gun has never been collectable as it had been reblued accurized and different sights installed before I owned it. It has however been a joy to own and shoot over the years. It feeds and functions flawlessly, if there is enough recoil to operate the slide it ejects and feeds 100% of the time. The trigger breaks with no creep at 2.5 lbs and the hammer has never followed to half cock. The gun with either Lyman 200 gr swc or Saeco 185 swc and Bullseye powder will stay well inside the 10 ring on a 50 yd bullseye slowfire target(I only wish I could). I had a dot sight slide mounted a couple years ago as my 65 yr old eyes don't see the sights too well any more. I hated to do that but I do enjoy shooting that gun . Thats it, I've attached a pic of my 90 yr old still going strong.
