first post on this forum so hi to everyone.i got a new paw from Ruger for my new model .45 colt blackhawk a couple days ago and made it free spin.the cylinder latch drops out just long enough for the cylinder to start to turn then drops back in and drags to the next latch.how can i make it not drop back in so soon?

While safer the way it is, it also makes that scratched ring, which is ugly, but when the gun gets used a lot it seems to give it character.
Here's the fix. http://www.rugerforum.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=3601&highlight=ruger+timing

That's basically 'normal' for a New Model Blackhawk - it was designed to do that - well not to ring the cylinder; just to lock before the cylinder can over-rotate. As Boomerang states, the 'fix' is a longer hammer pawl.
