Can anyone tell me the difference between Wolf "Military Classic" and Wolf "Black Box" .... also .... your opinion of Wolf ammo would be appreciated ... looking to buy some to feed my Mak ... If y'all know of any great prices on 9x18 I'd love to hear about them ... thanks :)

military classic is 95gr fmj and black box is 100gr. I like sportsmansguide and use one of their $10 off coupons when I buy a case! BTW I carry the black box in my mak in winter!

I use Wolf a lot. It works well but it smells and is a little dirty, residue-wise. Other than that, it's been fine. Well, at least for me....

my mak is 100% reliable with wolf fmj. I have only had 2 ftf's in ~2500 rounds and both of those were with silver bear JHP's. I polished the feed ramp and fired the rest of the case w/o another problem.

IMO Barnaul is better than Wolf

I think ALL russian ammo goes BANG when the hammer drops...but boy is sure is dirty! Silver bear 95gr jhp is my warm weather ammo.

I use the FMJ in winter because of where I live...Western NY state. Lots of heavy coats (carharts) and "hoodies" make penetration a problem with some JHP. I use JHP the rest of the year!

I find the silver bear to be VERY dirty...but it was ~$150 for the case when I bought it last summer. Truthfully, I like wolf black box the best and may just use that all the time in the future.

I used wolf once and would never do it again. Go to Wal-Mart and pick up some winchester ammo. If they don't have your kind of ammo go to cheaper than dirt or cabellas and order it. Sellier and Bellot is also a good kind of ammo i like to use.

I haven't had any problems with Wolf so far. I either 9mm nor 223.

Hollow points aren't stopped by clothing. Even heavy clothing, all that happens is they plug (if it even does) and becomes a FMJ anyway. I would carry only a good bonded JHP.
