FWIW, I think you'll find most experienced hunters will limit their use of #00 on whitetail to 30-35 yards. Maybe a tad farther with a full choked gun that will put out an exceptionaly tight pattern.

That seems to be about the limit for a sure kill. Be about that for people, they're deer sized.

As always, a person would have to pattern the gun and load to know for sure.

IIRC a minimum of three pellets striking the body is the rule, more is better, maybe 5 for a quick stop..
