Just suppose your primary carry gun was no longer an option. What gun would you replace it with?

Well, since I read THR, I know to own multiple copies of the same weapon. Thus, I walk down the stairs, turn left into my armoury, open the safe and pull out a new pistol. Load and make ready.

Whew!:D

Do you mean, if my current piece suddenly disapeared as thru theft or accident? (In which case, I'd pull my old one out of retirement until I could acquire a new one.)

Or do you mean, as if the entire type disappeared? Just the Colt Commander, or ALL mid-sized lightweight 1911s? If the former, then probably the equivalent Kimber. If the latter, I'd probably suffer some severe psychological damage and thereby be unfit to carry a pistol.

Seriously, though - - I'd weather the readjustment - - Human beings are adaptable. And the guns are just tools, right? I'd carry a full size 1911 while I located to find a 3" Cobra, or, failing that, a 3" Detective Special or even a 3" model 65. I'd get an action job, a good holster, and go on about my life.

Best,
Johnny

You would post this after I started carrying my Para Carry!

But since my always carry is my Kel Tec P32, I would replace that with a Kahr PM9, but I don't own of those yet.

But that 1911 sure is easy to carry compared to the Kahr...

You guys think Tamara plays "what gun goes wwith this outfit"?

I know I do.

Heck the only reason I own a Luger is it goes with my silk Mao jacket.*

I have two primary carry guns, a G19 and a PM9. If one of them died for some reason, I have a second G19 and a second PM9. Plus a G26. Sort of boring in one sense, but does mean fewer calibers to stock. Plus they use each other's mags and holsters.

I have three guns I call my primary carry guns. P7M8, M60 .357 snubby, SIG P239.

I also own a P225, P229, Walther P99...........basically almost every handgun I own is a perfectly viable gun for CCW. The top three choices are simply my easiest to grab throw on or throw in a pocket.

Now if my P7M8 were erased after my period of mourning I would use one of the other to kill the SOB who erased my beloved P7. :fire: :cuss:

Any of my handguns would do in a pinch even the new 3 inch GP100 with the smaller grips has surprised me at how comfy and totable it is.

I'm a pocket carry guy! I guess I'd have to go out and pick up another pocket gun! I'm not gonna lug my BHP around under my shirt at work all day. :uhoh:

I have a main carry gun, a small carry gun, another main carry gun that lives in a bank box just in case things hit the fan, and a model 1911 I could carry, albeit not entirely comfortably. They told me in the Boy Scouts to be prepared.

Greeting's All-

If my .45 caliber SIG-Sauer P220A were erased;
why then I would replace it with another SIG; the ever
popular 9m/m P228!

Best Wishes,

If I couldn't carry my 686 around the house and property, I'd prolly get a 4 to 5 inch 1911. Or a model 586

No Clint Smith replies yet?:D

If my 1911 vaporized, I'd pick up a rifle post haste.:D

Any hammer on the jobsite will work as long as me brain don't vaporize! :uhoh:

Come one, come all to Cslinger's house of arms and ammo. :D

Geez, now everybody will be coming to my door with stories of dissapearing carry guns looking for a little charity:scrutiny:

I guess I could arms us up long enought to make it out East where Tamara could take us all in.:D

I'd go with my P97DC or get a 1911.

Well, that would be my S&W 042...

So, I'd either go back to my Taurus TP-22, which was my primary CCW for a couple of years before I got the 042, or I'd go to my Kahr K9, which has been an alternate CCW any number of times.

Also, there's my S&W Model 19 2.5", which I carry in a shoulder holster in the winter, my CZ-70 in .32 ACP, my S&W Model 30 in .32 Long, my Browning High Power, or my Springfield 1911-A1.

I have options. :)

I agree. What happens if you had to shoot a burglar in self defense? The police take all your guns for a ballistic check. Meanwhile you're unarmed while his buddies might come looking for payback. Head to the gunshop and pick up another.

I keep a couple of my best friend's guns at my place and he does the same for me in case of a self-defense shooting in the home. If it happens away from home then I'd re-arm as soon as I could get home.
