I own a glock 33 in .357 sig, i want to get a g 27 barrel for it so i can run .40 s&w through it at a lower cost for ammo. i am a newly married college student and money is in short supplyso i have been looking at a few after market barrels, but have heard some disturbing things about them. one particular brand im looking at is manufactured by federal, they run about 85.00$. what should i do, go factory or after market. and will an aftermarket hurt my weapon or not. note: this gun is also my carry weapon.

I've not heard bad things about any of the aftermarket barrels. I use Jarvis barrels in several of my Glocks: along with BarSto, they're the most expensive, but they're match-quality, and have halved the size of my groups from those guns. However, you can also buy a barrel from Glock: a G27 barrel will fit your G33, and Glock's not too expensive, IIRC.

Are the Bar-Sto barrels drop-in or do they need fitting by a 'smith?

most of the barrels ive read about are "drop in" but they say they have a "tighter fit" than factory and i wonder if this would cause wear so when i put my factory barrel back in for carry it would be sloppy or looser than before.

Since you are on a budget go with the after market barrel. Then you can save even more by using cast bullets instead of jacketed.
