Does anyone use the Hoppes Tornado brushes and if so, what do you think of them for general purpose cleaning of semi-auto handguns?

I think they are Stainless steel.........if they are, don't use them.......steel on steel is not a good thing..........

Yeah, bronze brushes are SUPPOSED to wear out. Otherwise, with steel, both the brush and your barrel are wearing. Brushes are LOT cheaper than barrels - too damn many gun folks cheap out, and it ends up costing 'em more.

I use them. They're great for cleaning out the cylinder of a stainless steel revolver and that's all I ever use them for.
Stick with bronze for your bore and if you've got leading, wrap chore boy (copper mesh) around a worn bronze brush. That'll get the lead out.

I tried these once and was less than impressed. I did not see where they were any more effective than a bronze bristle brush.

I had tried one a long time ago and found it to be not as good as a regular bore brush. I cannot see how a curved strand of wire is able to get into the corners of a groove to scrub out the fouling.
