Shooting the Multi Gun match this year and I have the choice of staying in my class, Limited 10 with an AR-15 in tactical ( I think), or switch over to the Heavy Metal Division with an M1a, or Garand, a Spas-12 and my 1911. Anyone have any suggestions? Not that I am going to win the state 3 gun championshhip, or even place in my Division, BUT, I would still like to make a good showing.

Shooting He-Man is expensive. 45 ACP and 308 is pricey compared to 9/40 and 223.
My HM set up is an SR-25, Benelli Nova and 1911 Single Stack or a STI 2011, depending on the match. Some matches even allow the 40 in HM.

i just switched this year to heavy metal. as was stated earlier it is definatley not the cheap way out. i enjoy shooting single stack in uspsa so i figured i would run it for everything. i picked up a m1a and alredy had a 870 laying around. i omly shoot a few multi gun matches a year so ammo expense is not to big a deal.
i guess my advice would be to shoot what you like the best. for me shooting the .45 and the m1a just make me smile.

As much as I love the M1 rifle, I would not recommend a Garand if you want a "good showing". M1a would compete better.
