Hey, need a little help here.

A friend gave me some spare mags for my ruger .22 pistol. I believe my pistol is an old standard model pistol. Anyway the new mags won't fit. The new mags are the M-9 model and on the ruger website are list as Mark I (old style). The new mags have the thumb stud on the opposite side as my one mag that fits. Can I switch the thumb stud on the new mags to the other side? If so, How?

If the new mags are a dead end, where can I get some spare mags for this pistol. I can only find Mark I and later models? Do they even have them?

thanks

You can switch the buttons easily.

Use a wood stick or something that won't scratch the follower and push it down until the button lines up with the circle cut-out in the mag body.

Now, just pull the button out and put it back in on the other side.

push it down until the button lines up with the circle

I can't do that with the new mags. there appears to be stop on the inside? Can I take that stop out somehow?

After more research, I found I have a 1960's model pistol with the thumb stud slot on the right side (while in a firing position)

OK, I figured it out. You have to insert a toothpick into the hole on the bottom of the mag, then slide off the butt plate, then I can align the mag follower button with the open circle and remove and replace to the other side.

All happy now
