Somebody is going to think I have horrible taste, but I think this is the best looking pistol in the XD line-up. How long have these been out? Anybody got one? I would imagine they are hard to come by. I'm going to try to trade my XD Tac 45 for one.

Kind of funny to see this posted. I just saw one at a local range Saturday. The guy behind the counter was surprised by it as well. I wouldn't say you had "horrible" taste, just different taste. I kinda like it myself.

That thing is ugly as sin. It looks as if an XD got painted with an ugly brush and then barfed on.

But then again, you know what they say. "Different strokes for different folks."

Hahaha, yeah guitargod1985, guess that's why manufacturers make so many different models. Variety is the spice of life.

Reminds me of various burger joints. They run out of ideas, and then say, "Hey lets put everything together on the same bun!". So you end up with the bacon-cheddar-ranch-foccata bread-vine ripe tomato-jalapeno-buffalo burger.:barf:

hmmm well i actually kinna like it
i think the solid black xd is the only pistol on earth more ugly than a glock
that tan and stainless or olive and stainless breaks up the ugliness a bit

I guess I better get it in a hurry if I'm gonna get it. Based on the rave reviews it is getting in this thread, Springfield may not offer it again next year. Ha ha ha

I've seen it, not gonna rush out and buy one. Can't say that I find it very aesthetically pleasing but I wouldn't judge anyone else on getting one. I do love black XD's and black frame with stainless slides.

With the new Ultra Safety Assurance (U.S.A.™) Action Trigger System, this polymer framed pistol is as comfortable as it is safe.

They trademarked 'U.S.A.'? Hmmm, I thought that one was already taken. ;)

Materdei, yeah, gotta love those marketing tactics. I priced one today at the store where I do all my business, $592.78. Not a bad price around here, but still more than I was wanting to pay. Guess I'll just have to get a black on black for now.

A buddy of mine just offered me $500 on my 45 Tac, which is awesome considering he could get it new for $580. I guess now it's just the matter of coming up with $100. Should be easy enough. I'm like a crackhead, running around looking for stuff to sell.

I've got to hand it to the XD series pistols, they actually make the Glock look pretty...

Its like a train wreck... I am horrified by its appearance but yet... can't seem to stop looking at it!

Its kinda cool and a little over the top at the same time... Like a 4x4 with chrome...

I honestly don't know how I feel about that look.. I was immediately repulsed, but then when I stared at it for a minute it really started to grow on me. I'm.. so.. confused..

There was a thread a while a back about a guy who had the dark earth and the bi-tone XD 45 4" ers, but I cant seem to find it. Since the slides were interchangeable, in effect he had a:
black on black
Bi tone (stainless on black)
Dark earth (black on OD green)
and what you see here (stainless on OD green)
XD's.

I know its not quite OD green but w/e. sue me.

When I saw it then, I thought it was the coolest thing ever. Now they're marketing it!

I think its great :D

Like others, I didn't care for it when the page first loaded. Now I've got to have one. I'm suprised the distributers have them already. Thought I would have to wait a while to get it, but it is in stock and could be delivered tomorrow.

I want to get one with the DE frame and the slide in OD. I think it would go well with my multicam.

If the slide were blue then it would be a nice traditional khaki and blue oxford combination.

A brown corduroy holster would complete the look.

Lighter blue maybe, Supernaught. That one hurts my eyes. Something in Perriwinkle perhaps? ;):D

Ev'ryone considered him the most tasteless in the county.

He'd never bought one single thing to prove the county wrong.

His mama called Marksman, the folks just called him blind,

But something always told me they were reading Marksman wrong.

He was only ten years old when his fashion sense died at recess.

I took care of Marksman 'cause it takes a village ya know.

I still recall the final words the kids said to Marky,

"Bub, your taste sense sucks, and your life has just begun.

"Promise us, Bub, not to buy the things we love.
Walk away from what's good lookin' if you can.

Now it won't mean you're weak if it's the ugly in everything you seek.

We hope you're old enough to understand:
Bub, you can buy a dark earth gun and be a man."

There's some gun for ev'ryone and Marky's love was Fugly.

With that XD in his hands he didn't have to prove he was an absolutely fabulous man.

One day while he was shootin' the Glock fanboys came callin'.

They took turns at Fugly.... n' there was three of them!

Marky opened up his ears and heard his Fugly gettin' razzed.

The bad words, especially from Block fans, was more than he could stand.

He reached above the fireplace and took down his Fugly's picture.

As his tears fell on his Fugly's stainless slide and poop colored frame, He heard these words again:

"Promise us, Bub, not to buy the things we love.
Walk away from what's good lookin' if you can.

Now it won't mean you're weak if it's the ugly in everything you seek.

We hope you're old enough to understand:
Bub, you can buy a dark earth gun and be a man."

Them Glock fanboys just laughed at him when he walked into the coffee bar.

One of them got up and met him halfway 'cross the floor.

When Marky turned around they said, "Hey look! ol' Stevie Wonder's leavin'."

But you coulda heard a pin drop when Marky stopped and locked the door.

Twenty minutes of ribbin' was bottled up inside him.

He wasn't holdin' nothin' back; he let 'em have it all.

When Marky left the barroom not a Glock fanboy was smilin'.

He said, "This one's for Fugly," as he watched the last one bawl.

And I heard him say,

"I promised you, folks, not to buy the things you love.
I've walked away from the popular when I can.
Now please don't think I'm weak, I didn't turn the other cheek, and folks, I sure hope you understand:

Sometimes you can buy a Fugly gun and still be an absolutely fabulous man."

Ev'ryone considered him the most tasteless in the county.

I don't care for it, I much prefer the black slide on the dark earth frame, I think those are sweet looking.

Most manufacturers have to have an oddball gun for oddballs or collectors...kinda like the golden tiger striped Desert Eagle...you all know which one! :)

I made my own about two years ago. Bought the black/dark earth and the bi-tone, and switched slides. All I've got is a partial pic right now, showing where I filled in the engraving...
