Sorry if this has been posted before. I did a search but did not turn up any results. I had an idea about a possible Gun Raffle that I would like to propose to the administrators of this site.

I'm not sure about the legality of raffling firearms online or about if the profits must go to a charity or organization...but if everything turns out to be legal, would it be possible to have a weekly, bi-weekly or even monthly raffle to win various firearms here at THR?

For instance if say a Remington 870 is selected for the raffle. Each "ticket" or chance to win costs a dollar each. After the gun is paid for the proceeds collected could go towards the NRA or other pro-gun organizations.

This way we would be donating for the "cause" and each member potentially has the opportunity to win a new gun. It seems like a win-win situation.

Any thoughts? Or is somebody going to rain on my parade?

Seems to me like the legal ramifications of firearms & raffles vary so much by State, Country and Worldwide that it would be near impossible to administer and also stay out of jail & lawsuits!

I know I sure wouldn't want the job, even if they paid me, which I'm pretty sure they don't!
