Sorry, it's called stainless for a reason. It's stainless.

For a home-done finish one of the paint-type finishes is about all thats available.
You can use ordinary Rustoleum brand paint and bake it on in an oven, or check Brownell's for one of their bake on finishes.

These baked on finishes are tougher than you might think.

Rustoleum High Temp BBQ Black.
Tape everything you don't want to paint and apply a few coats.
Let it dry for a WEEK. Seriously.
It should last a long time.
I did this to an L1A1 with total satisfaction.
