Can anyone tell me what the gun that Ronin(Jason Momoa) carries one Stargate Atlantis started out as.I know it is part revolver but that is it. I couldnt find a pic of it or I would post one.

I've always thought it was some sort of a shotgun. Whatever it is, he should sell it and buy some acting lessons...or...better yet, they should just keep the camera on Amanda Tapping.

Sigh!

Sorry, Ronan, no contest.

Amanda's been looking a little frumpy in SA. She was MUCH better looking in SG1. Part of it is hairstlye, part is the costumes they've had her in, the rest may be her just getting older?

Ah, yes, but when she smiles the room still lights up. I'll bet when she was a little girl, that she was the center of attention and got anything she wanted. I was always sorry a romance didn't spring up between her and O'Neill, or Daniel.

I've got to admit she's pretty much wallpaper on the Atlantis show. I think Rodney steals the show. But they wasted that doctor fellow, the one they killed off.

It would have been a nice touch is Ronan had given T'ealc a weapon like his at the end of that episode. He could have said, "I was saving it in case I lost this one. Just one thing. If I lose mine, you have to help me get it back."

To which Teal'c responds, "Indeed."

I'd be such a great writer for that show.

How come with guns like that and I assume similar other arms, Ronan's people got wiped out by the Wraith?

Confederate, where did you get the image? Is that from the Stargate magazine?

On a somewhat related note, anyone remember a thread on one forum or another about the proper way to equip a scifi team? A friend asked for it sometime ago and I haven't been able to track it down.

What image, of Amanda or the gun?

I just did a global search for the Amanda photo. It's quite popular. I don't know why. :D

As for the gun, NWdude83 found it. It's obviously a prop...very cheesy...just like Dr. McCoy's salt and pepper shaker medical instruments on the original STAR TREK.

The only thing I know about equipping a sci-fi team is: if you're about to beam down and they want you to wear a red shirt, don't! People who beam down in red shirts or who walk behind everyone else nearly always get killed.

Heh...

A bump, because I was wondering what kind of sidearm Sheppard used on the show. It looked like either a 1911 or a Hi-Power, but couldn't tell for sure (even after watching his famous duel with "Kolyaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!" ) ;)

(Apparently he carried an M9 early in the show, like the others. The other pistol came later on...)

I searched, and found this:
http://community.livejournal.com/atlantis/244926.html

A "high-cap" 1911, the best of both worlds! Though I'd prefer Ronin's gun myself. ;) Wasn't there a scene early on where John is showing him the target range, punching some holes in paper. Ronin then incinerates the whole TARGET with his gun, much impressing Sheppard. :D

I also love Rodney trying to use a gun - one of my fave McKay moments was when he confronted some bad guys (was it the Wraith?) with his M9, raised it up...and DROPPED THE MAG by mistake instead of pulling the trigger!

ETA - after watching last Friday's episode...I'D want a .45 too if I had to worry about confront those alternate-reality aliens again!!! :what:

(And maybe trade in the P90 for a Garand or something with some BITE to it!)

Hey, they shoot down Go'auld ships with P90s.

The disconnect is why we haven't reverse engineered all the energy weapons lying around and adopted them. Yes, they don't work well on replicators, blah, blah - but we seem slow on the techy uptake.

Sheppard switched to the 1911 after a trip to earth, when he went from major to Lt. Col. Also around the time that EVERY gun magazine, show and forum started talking about socom testing several makes/models and calibers and choosing the 1911; lapd swat picking the kimber 1911, and so on. Think they even mentioned something about him getting a new gun in the show.

Overwhelming numbers. Quantity has a quality all its own.

you also have to remember that the Wraith have airpower...including the ability to cull crews from gun emplacements

As COMPNOR already posted, it is later revealed that he "borrowed" that gun from another space-faring nomadic race. That's not the gun he was issued. Instead they had the weird tri-barrel lever-guns.

For the original poster, I believe it's based off of a Colt 1860 Army cap-and-ball revolver.
