So, it took an hour and 40 minutes rather than an hour.

At least the conversion is complete. :)

No time limit limit between searches now?

Derek, thanks for being so fastidious in this changeover.

Well, it was a couple of things:

We have the new search system which should be more functional and require fewer resources.

I also bumped the maximum amount of memory a search could consume (it's something like 192 megabytes right now, which is probably overkill. 48 was too small though.)

Of course, load just went twice as high as I've seen it before. I guess everyone's doing big searches now? ;)

Maybe unrelated.
Just touched the board for the first time this eve while you had the banner page up.
20-30 sec later the pages I wanted showed up and I opened pages from legal and general. Pretty quick reply in quick-reply and page hung and I recieved notice:
This forum requires that you wait 60 seconds between posts. Please try again in 34 seconds.
Checked the thread and my post was present.

Ahhh actually i just tried to search in the Buy Sell Trade Forum and came up with an issue. It said you have to have a minimum of 3 letters, but I usually search MI and I can no longer do that. I bet a good number of people both post and search for two letter combination's for their state. Could you pretty please bump it down to two letters?

I don't think 3-letter words work either.

Try searching for "Zak Smith" and include the quotes.

Evidently quoted strings are now a valid search term.

Actually, "ABC XYZ" seems to match ABC -or- XYZ.

2nd the problem with searching for state codes. Searching for "WA" in trading post gets me:
The search term you specified (WA) is under the minimum word length (3) and therefore will not be found. Please make this term longer.
If this term contains a wildcard, please make this term more specific.

If I search for "WA" (with the quotes) I get:
Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms.

Good God... I found a match for 'Kissy Suzuki.'

Also found a useful signature.

Thanks s'much!

And beware of Heller-created traffic in the coming weeks and months.

Yeah - search is still "broken," but it's not at the top of my list of priorities.

Things I'll try and accomplish this week include: Installing a new gigabit switch to replace the 100 megabit one I've got there already.
Configuring VLANs on said switch so I can configure a second firewall in a failover configuration. The next time a firewall refuses to reboot because a CPU fan busted we shouldn't have any downtime as a result.
I'm taking the old THR server, slapping some bigger drives in it, and putting it back online as a web server. This should allow us to separate the SQL server from the web server, which should get us better performance.Sometime after that I'll dig into the details of MySQL and make sure it's indexing terms like GA, TX, and 19.

I haven't forgotten about this.
