View Full Version : How many foreign 'make' handguns do you have

Flame Red

Just curious, what precentage of your handguns are from foreign manufacturers. So a Sig that was made in the USA counts as foreign.

Two Sigs, one Heckler & Koch, and two Glocks.

Love my 1911's, but there's something about German pistols that attracts me, too.

3 out of my 6 handguns are made in the USA. 3 S&W revolvers. Then a Glock, FN and Sig.

March 6, 2008, 05:08 PM
Two, both are C&R - a Mak and a Nagant.

All the rest of my handguns are made in the USA - Colt, Kimber, Dan Wesson and S&W.

I have some made in the USA by foreign owned companies, such as Sig and FN, at least one made abround for a US Company (BHP) and a number made abroad by foreign companies. Canada, Germany, Spain, Israel, Argentina, Switzerland, Slavic Republic, Italy, Russia and Bulgaria come to mind. Then there are the "all US" Colts, Kimber, Ruger, Springfield, Smith & Wesson, Marlin, DPM, Bushmaster, Rock River, Winchester and Browning offerings.

I may be in the 50% range, by your way of counting. 100% were bought from either a US businessman or an individual US citizen.

11 of 15 are foreign (I'm including the RIA 1911, since it's Philippine-made). Most are Cold War era East European, plus a commercial Russian and a West German.

100% but that's only because I only own 1 handgun. Mine was made in Germany and is an HK. My next handgun will be made in the U.S. however. Counting long guns as well, only 20% of all my firearms are foreign

Ummm, let's see...there's the Glock...no, I sold that one. Ah, the P7, nah, sold that too.

Oh! How about the Huglu...no, that's a shotgun; doesn't count.

And the XD? Well actually, that belongs to the GF.

So, where does that leave me? Zero? Yep...

Glock-free since '08... :)

So a Sig that was made in the USA counts as foreign. So conversely, would a Springfield Armory handgun that was made in Brazil or Croatia count as American? ;)

My number is a little over 50% made off shore.
Argentina, Austria, Belgium/Portugal, Brazil, Canada, China, Czech Republic, England, Germany, Italy, Japan, Massachusetts , Russia, Spain.
Is this a great country or what? :D

Wow. I never really thought about it. I have multiples of HK, SIG, Walther, Browning, Glock, a Makorov and a Polish P64. And, thinking about it in depth, All my revolvers are American made, but, the majority of my autos are foreign.

Both of my guns are domestic. The third gun that will be added in a few weeks will also be domestic (either another Ruger Revolver or a Remington 870).

I don't think any of my 3 handguns are made in the USA. Springfield XD45, Walther P22, and CZ75B.

Croatia, Germany, and Czech Republic

I actually didn't plan it that way though, and I definitely have the itch to buy a true "Made in USA" handgun.

Lucky Strike
March 7, 2008, 02:16 PM
33% right now.

One XD and two Ruger revolvers.

On my to buy this year list (i allot myself 2 gun purchases a year) are a Ruger Redhawk .44 and EAA Witness .45

Domestics for my revolvers and foreign for my semiautos...not by plan those particular guns just appeal to me

Not as many as I thought: 4/11

1 Argentinian (Ballester-Molina)
1 South Korean (Daewoo DH40)
1 German (Luger P08)
1 Bulgarian (Arcus 94)

The balance are from Ruger, H&R, Colt, S&W, and AMT.

90 % of my guns are US made so I voted : 90% Foreign. What difference does it make? Nobodys going to solve the US trade deficit by buying US made guns only. Guns, gun design and gun quality is not limited to a particular country.

Take Care

Most of my revolvers are US made, four S&Ws and three Rugers. I just have two foreign made revolvers, both made by Taurus.

However, only two of my semi-autos are US made, one Colt CCO, one Keltec P32. The rest are a half dozen CZs, two Walthers, two Argentine Sistemas, one Star B, one Makarov, and a Tokarev.

Interestingly, my primary CCWs are all US made (Colt CCO, S&W 642, and Ruger SP101).

Glocks are made in the USA as are many Beretta's. My Colt Juniors were made in Spain. But then, the barrel and action of my Weatherby Mark XXII bolt was made in Germany and the Mark XXII semi- was made in Japan. My CZ was made in well... Czech Rep. But these are all rifles.

Foreign:
Beretta, EAA Witness, Glock, BHP

US:
S&W (5), Ruger (4), Colt, Kimber, Springfield, Keltec

rantingredneck
March 9, 2008, 09:33 PM
Ruger GP100
Ruger P90
Ruger P345 x 2
Ruger MkIII 22/45
NAA Guardian .380.

All US made on my end. I've owned some foreign ones before but just didn't do it for me.

As far as that goes the only non-US made gun in my safe right now is a CVA Optima made in Spain.

Rugers, Remingtons, Marlins, H&R's round out most of the rest

I'll take it a step further, my SIG is a German frame and the rest is New Hampshire...does that make it half or 1/3rd foreign? I'm bad at math. ;)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

100% USA made and dang proud of it. We make the best guns in the world.

Seems to be that most folks have only a small precentage of their collection as foreign brand. That is what I was curious about.

I have 4:

Beretta 92F
Sig 229 in 357 Sig
Sig X-five
Walter PPK-S (Made in the US by S&W)

Every once is a while I do think about selling one or two of them, but I hate to get rid of guns that run and shoot super.
