Interesting find

I bought an EAA Bounty Hunter today in .45 Colt for loading some BP rounds. First thing I did was tear into it to check out the internals and if they need cleaning. When I took off the handle, out came a small piece of paper reading:
"Property of:
William S*****
Sept. 21, 1949"
(last name blanked out for privacy)
Pretty interesting really. Anyways, I now have a .45 Colt (Long Colt for those who know it by that) to load up some good old fashion Lead and BP, and got to learn when the owner got the pistol. Its a little old (around 10 years) but in good shape, I'll post some picks of it later on when I get my camera batteries charged.

I think that might perhaps be the gentleman's date of birth or something. EAA didn't start importing guns until 1990, I believe.

1997 is about when they started, and I think this gun is about that old. The bluing is worn off where your palm hits the handle and when your fingers grip on the front. The barrel had some leading in it, but nothing that a bronze brush and a little bit of work didn't clean out. The bore is still nice and shiny too. For the most part this pistol looks like it was well taken care of, but well used also.
I didn't figure the gun was from 1949, I just thought that it was interesting that he put it in there, guess I should have been a bit more clear.
EDIT: I edited the first post so it doesn't sound like the gun is over 50 years old.

Good way to identify your gun if it's stolen and recovered.

It has the one piece grips and the paper was between the grips and the spring. I thought it was pretty cool. Anyways, the gun shoots pretty good too. It shoots about 2 inches high @ 10 yards and a bit to the right. I used Remminton 250 grs. lead round nose bullets in it. Factory ammo, no reloads yet.
