For my 1911, I only use 230 grain, fmj. But knowing abslolutely nothing about Glocks what would be best for my G36? This will be for carry purposes. Thanks guys.

You might want to take a look at www.ammolab.com. They test ammunition and post their results. I've heard good things about Cor-Bon's .45 ACP Powerball ammo.

I carry a G36 w\Remington Golden Saber 230gr JHP and Federal HydraShok 230gr JHP. The only other ammo I've tested were Gold Dot 200+P JHP and Winchester 230gr JHP. All fed without any failure. The +P was a little to hot for me for pistol the size of the G36. A lot of the G36 owners on Glocktalk go with Powerball. Some have even suggested going down to the 185gr +P or any +P for the G36 to maximize performance out of the 3.7" barrel. I haven't tried it but intend to. Try out at least a box of several different brands and weights and see what works for you. Ammolab has some excellent pictures of expanded bullets from the different brands. Good luck.

I carried 200gr +P Gold Dots in mine, but as stated previously, they are a stiff little load. They were quite accurate in my G36 and shot better than 230gr ball.
I tend to go lighter when going to a barrel under 4" to make up for velocity loss.

No direct experience with the Glock but I like 185 +P for any short-barrelled .45 ACP. The Rem. Golden Saber version is nice. You need the extra velocity the lighter bullet at +P pressures provides to ensure reliable bullet expansion. If your gun will feed it reliably, Glaser is best for indoor work. Less penetration/ricochet. +P has a little more snap, but I think this is offset by the lighter 185 vs. 230 gr. bullet. The Pow'Rball by Cor-Bon is a little too light at 165 grs., IMHO. If you do go with a bullet this light, be sure to test it thoroughly. They may shoot well below point of aim. Glasers, on the other hand, somehow have been tricked into shooting pretty much to point of aim, even though they are very light. (My experience, not with Glocks, though.)
