Ok, a friend of mine is looking and ready to buy a Milt Spark Versa Max 2 for a 5" 1911 and/or a Glock 26/27. What is a good price for this particular holster? Best place to get one? As you can tell, I am not familar with this holster, but I told him I would poke around and see what I could find....

The VersaMax II is made as ordered by the Milt Sparks Company. Your friend can order directly from them: http://www.miltsparks.com/. The price depends on the leather: $105 for cowhide. My guess is that he probably won't have to wait more than five or six months for it.

If he'd like to get one during this lifetime and is willing to pay a premium, he should call Craig at Lightning Arms to see if they have one in stock: http://www.lightningarms.com.

I prefer dealing with Lightning Arms instead of Milt Sparks. Craig is a gentleman and he values his customers.

Your friend might also want to try monitoring eBay. Good holsters come up for sale from time to time. I bought my first VM II on eBay several years ago and it was in as new condition. Of course eBay is risky.

Perhaps your friend should expand his horizons to include first rate holster makers that do similar holsters just as good: Matt DelFatti, Josh Bulman, and others. They all have long waits but their work is worth it. I'm still trying to figure out what I have that can justify me in ordering a DelFatti holster. Lightning Arms carries DelFatti too.

I had to wait 7 months for my vm II but it was worth the wait. It pulls my G27 so tight to my body it is hidden under a relatively snug T-shirt.

You can find them on Ebay every once in a while, but for .45's they're going for $200 plus. I know, I've been watching. :scrutiny:
