Steyr M40 extraction problems

Been having extraction problems with my Steyr M40 lately. It happens about once every other mag and its always the same thing, empty case left in the chamber. No visible damage to the extractor. It seems to have started when I got the gun hardchromed. Is there anything I can do? Any suggestions. Thanks

Was the extractor itself hardchromed?
When I was thinking about having a P220 hardchromed I was advised by the smith who had done action work on it to specify that the extractor, and some other parts, NOT be chromed.

Yep, it sounds like they hard chromed that thing guts feathers n all, you may need a smithy to spend some time with your extractor.

Mine is out-of-the-box-blue and works fine.
