I have a matched set of .22mag derringers made by Davis Industries. They are double barrel, chrome finish, wood grips, new in boxes, consecutive serial numbers. I know nothing about these, what they are worth if anything, if they are safe to fire, etc. Can you tell me anything about them?

fifty bucks a pop would have bought 'em new back in the 90s when I had my FFL. I doubt they're worth that, now. They are better than RG, but that ain't saying a lot. I've never picked one up that had been fired much that wasn't loose as a goose.

Not known as top of line firearms .
More like bottom feeders

Currently Cobra makes the things, successor to Davis.
Zero collector value, pretty much the bottom of the barrel in domestic derringer production.
Made of cheaper alloys, nowhere near as durable as either Bond or American Derringer, poorly regulated.
Safety was never an issue with them, shoot 'em if you want to. :)

I once owned conse. numbered taurus mod 82 .38spl revolvers. I figured I had the pair of guns so numbered that would bring 0 premium market to myself. I guess I was wrong!
