Aimtech makes some scope mounts designed for specific fit of certain guns including 1911. I believe it replaces the RH grip and has another mount point, but requires no new holes to be drilled in the gun.

Anybody try these?

I wanted to know if their 1911 one would fit a wide 1911 like a Para 1640. I would call Aimtech but they have no phone number listed.

They also show one for a Ber 92 I might try. The nice thing is they claim they mount solid without drilling any new holes. In one case, the trigger pin is replaced by a special screw to secure the bracket at the front.
