I found a great deal on a couple of blackhawk tactical vests for all you tactical types.

Galls has them on clearance right now for $49.99. That's more than half off!

Those are great prices. Kudos on a very good find!

I'd get one except I'm too short. :( Tried a BHI vest at a gunshow. For those persons with short torsos, the vest puts the belt below your beltline.

You know, you think they'd make them for people our size considering they're made in Vietnam and Korea... :p

Hmmm something looks strange about these vests. The first think I noticed is that they don't have the Hawktex Sniper Retention Shoulder. So that means that these are either fake or are REALLLY REALLY old models that someone found. BHI has two dealer programs. If you don't place a $25K order then you get the standard discount. There is only a 10% difference between being a standard BHI dealer and a SUPER BHI dealer. So assuming that this company is a SUPER BHI dealer the price of the vest is way to cheap. They would be losing about $20.00 a vest. Not trying to rain on anyones parade, but if it looks to be good to be true then it probably is. I look forward to hearing your report Glockster35!

G&R I also noticed the missing shoulder pad. I don't really need or desire it anyway, but it may make a difference to others.

As I recall the older BHI vests did not have this feature. So I would assume Galls or BHI was doing some cleaning and found a box or two of the older models.

Once I get it I will report back on what I got.

Also, the Omega is available in black. I just ordered one, and will post back when it arrives.

What mags fit the front pouches on the Omega? M16 mags or HK94/MP5 stick mags?

Glockster35, I wasn't in any way trying to slam your find, I just don't want anyone to expect more than there getting. I hope it is everything you want! If it is, then you got a great deal! Good Luck...

Schuey2002, the vest will hold AR15 mags or MP5 mags.

Thanks,

Grant

Should fit the M-16/AR-15 magazines.

They do sell vests for the MP-5, but I have no use for one.

Wow! Great prices.
BTW, Glockster, it's MP5, not MP-5.

I got my order today, and it does include the sniper shoulder pad.

The vest is what you see on the Blackhawk website.

Only bad news I have is that I mistakenly ordered black, and wanted the OD green...so I placed another order today. Can't have enough gear you know...

I also got the new Galls catalog, which explains why they are selling the vest for so cheap...Galls has apparently contracted Blackhawk to design a vest for them, and they are selling it for $99...it adds a few features, but doesn't fit my current needs.

They also have some other new gear I haven't seem offered yet.

Glockster35, I thought I'd thank you for the tip, I appreciate it. I picked up the rifle mag OD version, which did come with the Hawktex Retention shoulder pad (unlike the photo which shows for the product). I was pleasantly surprised. In addition there was a removable velcro patch affixed to the pocket with the hook/loop on the outside. The patch had 4 or 5 shotgun shell loops stitched on. This certainly was a good deal for a BlackHawk product which seems to have the current model improvements on it. It would have been a good deal even without it.

Anyways, thanks again for the tip.

EricO,

You are welcome. I figure if we are all one family here, we will get along much better. Plus what good is keeping it a secret, I already ordered mine...and I know I didn't get their last ones.

I got mine today (the Omega, in black), and it has the shoulder "pad".

Thanks for the heads up - I've been meaning to get one of these for quite awhile, but could never justify the cost.

Not sure, check tomarrow under the Galls Clearance on page 3. You will find them there. They should still be there.

I've had a bit of time to play with mine now, and I really like the fit over my vest and duty gear. My pistol is not readily accessable in the concealment holster, if it matters.

The only difference I note between this and the normal Blackhawk models is that the Gall's version has no velcro loops for a Camelback.

Morgan,

Since you got the cross-draw version, is the holster for the pistol moveable? Is it held in place by velcro or is it attached in one place permanently?

Have you been able to find a hidden pocket for a handcuff key? The Galls Vests supposedly have one inside one of the other pockets. I haven't found the hidden pocket (if there is one) on my vest.

Glockster - I got the Omega, which is just mag pouches. I've got a Tac/thigh holster for the USP for playtime, and it works fine with my duty gear.

I haven't found any cuff key pocket, but don't really care. On the newer Galls Omega type vests, its suppossed to be in the first mag pouch from the center on the right side (when wearing the vest).

Give them a call and order it over the phone. They list their toll free phone number on their "home" page.
can you pay with a debit card?
Yes, IF you have a debit card that has a credit card symbol on it (such as Visa or MasterCard.)

(I use my debit card all the time to purchase stuff online. I purchased my last H&K rifle online using my debit card; it was quick, easy and relatively painless.) ;)

Are those velcro loops for a hydration system or for the BHI BTS attachment system? Just curious.

They are for the actual hose that delivers the fluid to ones mouth. They run along the collar area on the vest.

ditto glocky, got my OD omega tac. my barber cut my hair too short today and it looks like a marine cut and with the vest you could ship me off to iraq :p this is really a sweet deal though, you could get two after shipping & handling for the regular price of one

one thing though, mine's stinky a little bit, smells sorta vinegary, anyone know how to get rid of this?

Glockster35
August 20, 2003, 06:03 AM
Mine smell that way too, I would be interested in a solution also. But I figure by the end of the week I will have sweated the smell away.

It's been unusually warm over in Europe this year, and it's been damn hot. No air or swamp coolers anywhere to be had. Sucks.

I did buy two, I got one in black and one in OD green. I can wear the green one at work, but think I will have to wait until reitrement for the black one. I will have it set up for my "Red Dawn" in a week or two...I got more stuff coming in the mail.
