Is it the economy? But I'm seeing a lot of nice custom 1911s and variants for sale lately. And most of them at a good price!

As for me, I would never get rid of my custom pistols (well I did sell a Wilson once :uhoh: but its still considered a production gun :D) - all that time waiting, and the cost, plus you would never get what you paid for it. Besides, if I send a gun to a smith to get worked on and modified, I make sure I really like it, but you also have to trust the skill of the person working on it too...

Maybe they're not as reliable as they ought to be, and their owners are trying to unload them?

It's still tax time for a lot of people (quarterlies and extensions running out) and vacations are eating into budgets. I figure around April 15, end of summer, and the Christmas buildup/aftermath are the times most guns get sold due to money crunches.

Also figure lots of extra money on the market due to the advance payment from the IRS that most folks got who had dependents. That put at least $400 into most households, for many it was more.

That made it a good time to try to sell for undoubtedly lots of folks will use this as gun money. This may be the thinking of some folks.
