I am thinking about getting a SA XD and was wondering what everyone's thinks about it. (I just wish they made one in 45acp.)

...if you haven't been there already.

My nephew bought the XD-40 (ported) after reading some glowing reviews. I like shooting it, nice grip...for plastic...not too big, looks a lot like the Glock, similar trigger...maybe a little better...decent value...night sight models are very hard to find...an XD-40 is on my wish list...it's a long list ;) .

Good luck and safe shooting,

CZ52'

I really like Glock pistols and was never interested in another polymer framed pistol, until I saw the XD. I purchased an XD357 just to have a 357 Sig. I liked my XD357 so much, I bought a used XD9 shortly after. I find them to be very accurate for a four inch gun. They feel and shoot better than my Glocks, in my opinion. I quickly refinished my XD357, because the black finish is pretty weak. I plan on refinishing my XD9, as well. I don't consider these guns cheap alternatives to the Glock. After putting on a new finish, installing a new "non-captive" guide rod and night sights, I'll have about 750 bucks in this gun. I don't consider this cheap for a polymer framed gun. Until the AWB sunsets, you can use XD40 or XD357 sig mags as a high capacity mag for the XD9. Reliable, factory new 15 round capacity (standard capacity) mags for ~ $20. These guns aren't perfect, but they're very good.

BTW, the .45 is in the works!

I like the XDs alot. I think the trigger is alot nicer than a the Glock's. They're also way beefier internally and you can essentially get cheap, new hicaps for the XD9.

They are a bit bigger than the Glock and I once had a grip safety issue (as in I didn't grip the gun correctly so it didn't fire), but thats not that big of a deal to me; I could put a speedbump on it if I needed to.

I guy I shoot with just got his XD NP3ed. :) It's veeery nice; the trigger is really good and it looks hot, too.

The XD line of guns are really nice. I've shot the XD 9 & 357 and liked them both....almost bought the 357.

I shoot/carry Glocks exclusively. On the recommendation of another Glock fanatic, I purchased an XD9. I don't particularly care for it. It is about as accurate and reliable (and as big) as my Glock 17. For some reason, it just rubs me the wrong way. I don't think I'll be buying any more.

I'm guessing that was the 5" tactical?

The 4" XD-40 my nephew bought is roughly the same size as my G23.

Rugged, reliable, those are positive attributes?

What rubbed you the wrong way?

Grip? Feel? Balance? Sight Picture? Muzzle Flip?

Just curious...

Safe shooting,

Thanks everyone!! I went to the shop today intending to buy a 9mm XD. However, when i was there i saw a used two tone DE 44mag in great condition and HAD to get. The two caliber’s that I like the most are 44mag and 45acp so when I saw the 44mag DE it was a must have. Besides to me it is the mother of all guns, the one you show people and say look what I have!

So now back to the XD, assuming that when I go back there is not something else screaming “BUY ME” I will be getting the XD next. I just wish they made 1 in 45acp.

If you can wait a year, Springfield is developing an XD in .45 auto.

I got this information from several people on the XDtalk forum. It's creating quite a stir. Quite a few members have actually talked to Springfield about the pistol. Go to the XD talk forum and run a search; there are many posts on the subject.
