[Safety First]

Based on experience how do you rate it as a carry gun for defensive purposes?? I was giving it serious consideration for my next purchase,but would like to hear from you if have any knowledge about the gun...I currently have the SIG p239 and have no thoughts of replacing it,just thinking about adding to the collection,but also felt it might be a excellent choice for home defense as well...

Sorry, I can be of no help on that model either. I carry a Kimber compact stainless (old series I model). Completely reliable, easy to conceal, shoots to point of aim, quite accurate, and I am well pleased with it. Only major changes is that I had a FRONT only night sight installed.

If you are interested in home defense, get a bigger model.

If you are interested in carry, a single-stack gun would be better... the biggest advantage of even a 5" 1911 is that they are flat, which helps ALOT with how well they conceal. Double-stack grips can lard up a gun ALOT.

You really don't gain much going from 4" to 3" in concealability anyway IMHO, and lose a fair amount of muzzle velocity, sight radius and sheer shootability. Sub-4" 1911s also *seem* to be more prone to reliability problems.

I had a CDP Ultra II and it was unreliable. Yeah, it shot fantastic and was reliable at times. However, the 1911forum.com boys recommended the four and especially the five inch. I didn't listen and it cost me.

I now have a five inch carbon blue 1911 and it is 'right on'! The three inch cycles unreliably and in a self defense gun, you need reliability, FIRST.

I havent looked at that model ,but I dont like the series 2 safety system on the new Kimbers.:(

Not a big fan of the ultra compact 1911. In a 1911, for carry duty, I like the commander sized pistol.
