Hi,
Does anyone have the HighPower Mid-Range Come-ups for .308 regarding 300-500-600? Just looking for rough #s to get in the black. I can take it from there .... 168 gr HPBT with 40.5 gr vrgt.

Please add to this post if you have real experience. Not looking for "I know a guy that ..."

Thanks - Nik

From 200->300yds, you'll need 2 1/2 minutes.
From 300yds to 600yds, you'll need 12-14minutes depending. 13 will put you on paper.

"Two for 200
three for 300
twelve for 600"

I've never shot at 500yds except for rattle battle and can't remember what we used there. Maybe 9 minutes up from 300.

You WILL need more than 10minutes from 300 to 600yds. I can guarantee you of that. 10 minutes will put you at the very bottom edge of the paper, if not into the burm. When I shot 155Scenars, I was using 11minutes and they're the flattest game in town. Palma guys shoot a LOT faster than service rifles can.

With an M1A, my elevation zero is good to about a minute when all is said and done. Position and light conditions can make pretty big differences.

6.25 min at 300, 11 min at 500, 15 min at 600.

I just shot my Remington 700 .308 at 300 yards last week. I use the Hornady 168 gr. BTHP (factory ammo, loaded to 44.5 gr. of Varget) and had a drop of about 12-13 inches....so I made a 16 click up adjustment (1/4 click scope) and the next three shots landed in a small group less than 1.8" in the bullseye.

I'm heading out in the morning to shoot at 50 yard increments all the way to 800 yards!! Weather permitting of course....We are expecting 22 mph winds so hopefully I'll get some good wind dope too! I'll post my results on the drop in yardage if I get to shoot.....

I'm beating this like a rented mule, but have you checked out my Youtube Video of the Texas Mid-Range Championship that is about five posts above this one? You might not get your elevations but you will get a look at a BIG Mid-range match.

Sorry it took a while to get back on this topic, but I was able to finally shoot my 168 gr., .308 HPBT's out to 800 yards. I use 44 grains of Varget and here are my come ups.... With a 100 yd Zero...

300 yds= 4.5 Minutes or 18 clicks up
350 yds= 6.5 Minutes or 26 clicks up
400 yds= 8.25 Minutes or 33 clicks up.
500 yds= 11.75 Minutes or 47 clicks up.
600 yds= 17.25 Minutes or 69 clicks up
700 yds= 21.25 Minutes or 85 clicks up
800 yds= 27 Minutes or 108 clicks up.

Weather: Temp: 65 F.
Humid: 40%
Pressure: 30.06

I had used the JBM Ballistic calculator to give me an idea of the bullet drop, and to the most part it was pretty close....further out I went the more it was off but it still gave me a great idea of where to start my dope. I was shooting at a man sized Qualifying Target that we use at the Dept. my come ups put my rounds in the center mass of the target.....about an 8x10 area.

Nik............with a 200 yd. zero you will need about 3 minutes to go to 300 yds. From 300 to 600 you will need about 11 minutes. I got this info first from M/SGT James R. Owens and verified it in my own hi-power experience. Buy his book.........Sight Alignment, Trigger Contorl, and The Big Lie. You will learn and enjoy. He if from Milwaukee Wisc. and his books are available from all the hi-power suppliers............Champion's Choice, Creedmore, etc. Good shooting.
