What kicks harder? Anyone know? I'm sure no one on these boards has shot all of these guns, but from what you've all read, what is the most brutal (being fired in rifles in which they were designed)? I want to shoot every one, eventually.

1) .577 T-Rex

2) .585 Nyati

3) .700 Nitro Express

4) Non-braked .50 BMG

5) 4-bore

6) .475 A&M magnum


My guess would be, in order of descending brutality:

4-bore
non-braked .50 bmg

I've never shot anything that kicked more that a 12 ga 3 inch mag with 00 Buck shot fired from a light, single shot, shotgun... ouch...

I shot a old bolt action shotgun (still don't know who made it) made for hunting dinosaurs. I shot one round Fed slugs thru it, ouch.

I think it would be the 50BMG followed closely by the 700 nitro.

Did people really fire 4 bores from the shoulder? Thats 4oz + of lead 1750 grains.

You must be what is called a recoil junky. I'll admit it, I am a whimp when it comes to recoil, so I find it difficult to fathom your need to sample the above calibers. Be that as it may, more power to you in your quest for the most controlled brute force available applied directly to your shoulder. :)

Try two each 3 1/2" goose loads at the same time out of a double barrel 10 guage shotgun.

At the young age of 13. That gun kicked my butt bigtime.
