Anyone shot one of these yet? Does the fact that it breaks in half mean poor accuracy? Will it take AR mags?

Would you get a KT or a .223 AK? Would it be more accurate than Mini 14?

Thanks

Not on the market yet. Yes it will take AR mags according to KelTec.

In reality, it folds less drastically than does the AR-15 style of rifle. It's more of a FN FAL type of folding although it folds all-the-way under rather than just a little as in the FAL. Accuracy should be pretty good. Probably better than the Mini-14 but I'm just guessing. Heck, a slingshot is better than the mini.... Just joshing.

Red Dot sight & I'm good to go here in CA in case of those "non-riots" I don't have to worry about.

Where'd that photo display come from? I don't see any info about this gun on their site.

The red dot is the sight adjustment screw - it and the front sight blade are made of translucent red-orange plastic, the idea being that they will pick up ambient light and give a very high-contrast front sight, like the Hi-Viz fiber-optic handgun and shotgun sights. It's the same sighting arrangement as on my .40S&W KelTec Sub2000.

Personally, I'd much rather the front sight was steel, with steel-on-steel click-detent adjustments, like an AR15 - when I get my grubby mitts on a SU-16, if Kel-Tec is still shipping them with plastic sights, I'll give the rifle into GG&G's capable hands and have them replace the front sight with a flip-up AR15 unit that they make.

What is it with Kel Tec and folking carbines?

The Sub2000 or the Sub-9 is a great trunk carbine. Loved mine for years.

But there came a point in time when I could not configure it the way I wanted - it folds!

So I sold it for a .223 AR.

Then bought another AR15.

If you're going to spend $500 on that, why not save a little more for a Bushmaster, RRA, Armalite, Colt, DPMS, or an Olympic Arms AR-15 with a metal reciever?

I don't understand.

At $500 it's not marketable like the P-32.

Looks like the ideal trunk/travel gun to me. Can't wait till these hit the market.

You know, every single time somebody comes out with a .223 semiauto, there's always at least one person who says "Why not just get an AR-15"?

Well, not everyone WANTS an AR-15. For two, this weapon's MSRP may seem high, but in very few places do you actually pay MSRP.

Third, this gun will probably be California legal, where the AR-15 isn't an option.

...That's EXACTLY how I want my Kel-Tec SU-16 to look!

Good thing I got myself on the dealer wants/waiting list! Kor will be happy boy... :D

Bam-Bam31 - no folding stock, it's a folding action. No evil pistol grip. No evil muzzle brake and no evil bayonet lug.

Looking at the pictures though, I wonder how heavy that bbl is and whether it'll heat up like the Mini-14 and throw bullets like a water-hose.

I'll wait to hear from someone who owns one.

Well, if you can play with it in CA, it's okay then.

But around here, you can privately buy a Bushmaster AR-15 for $600 cash. From a dealer $699.

but what if the dealer price is 400 bucks?

Neat concept but pricey for what it is.
For 300 I could get a new, really crude but reliable ak in 5.45.

Actually, a new AK rear stock set that holds an extra mag would be kind of cool.
